Static Friction Experiment

Doing an experiment isn’t just about being careful and organized, another main notion is to understand that this experiment isn’t perfect and that there are many external factors that can affect the results as a whole.

When we were studying about static friction, the class had an experiment on finding the coefficient of static friction. To find the coefficient, first, we create a ramp and put on object on it and try to find the minimum angle before the object start moving by calculating with tan(angle).

I aware that in this experiment, we made a few assumptions. We assumed that the wall, the ramp lean against is straight and smooth. We assumed that when we drop the object, our hand does not  apply any force. We assume that shape and size of the object does not affect the data. We assume that when we hold the ramp, it is stable.
